Best image editor money can buy. Essential app for every OS X users. It has a wonderful GUI that is very easy to use if you used similar apps like Photoshop. I want to like this program, I really do, but the user interface uses small white text on a black background. This is the worst possible combination imaginable.

Plus, it uses Python plugins, giving it more professional options. And Acorn is rock-stable. It even uses Photoshop plugins. Anyone willing to spend an hour or two can master the basics, opening the door to the magical world of unlimited creativity. There is almost nothing you can't do with Gimp.
Anything you can imagine you can create. And since it's open-source, it's all completely free. Image editing tools are often overcrowded with buttons, icons and functions. Then you know what I mean. Those programs tend to overwhelm you with features and I know some people that stopped editing photos at all because they didn't want to bother, they didn't want to invest time into learning how to use those complicated suites.
Pixelmator is the opposite of complicated. But is has or it almost has as much features as photoshop. When you use Pixelmator the first time you will notice a very intuitive and nice UI. You don't need to proofread help files and handbooks to understand what to do.
Very often it is like:"Dude, I wish I could do that just by pressing this button. This is the kind of "Mac magic" that especially people who change from Windows to Mac feel when using it the first couple of times.
Another problem most big image editing programs have is that they need so much time for simple things. On windows people who own photoshop use the windows native application "Paint" for simple tasks because it opens very fast and it has simple and easy to find buttons.
